Choosing a violin

Select a violin that fits the student.  Have student stand with arm outstretched, palm up.  Measure the distance from the base of the neck to the middle of the palm.

• 18 to 20 inches:  1/4 violin
• 20 to 22 inches:  1/2 violin
• 22 to 23 inches:  3/4 violin
• over 23 inches:    4/4 violin (full size)
